Well, its been a while since we completed this, but in July 2016, the heritage lamp posts were installed. Residents can now enjoy this street, with lighting that is sympathetic to the architecture of the area.
We even made a saving against the initial cost estimate, so have offered to return a portion of individuals contributions to them, or donate it to charity. If you contributed and have not been contacted about this, please contact me through this blog.
The main thing is that we got together and solved a problem in partnership with the local council. There is a lot that ordinary people can do by pulling together, as this small example illustrates. We were not confident that we could make this happen when we set out, but the evidence is there in the beautiful cast iron that now decorates our pavements.
Well done and thanks to everyone who contributed – in energy, enthusiasm and persistence, as well as with donations.
